And honestly, if keeping old equipment works, the "upgrade" is often a downgrade. I watched an office replace a perfectly functional fleet because someone with budget authority wanted the newest models. So keep that old Lexmark running. Feed it the right toner, check the network settings, run the occasional configuration page. It'll probably outlast the next two computers you buy. But don't discard a machine that's doing exactly what it was built to do, just because it's not new anymore.
